It took me a while to understand that forgiveness was for me too, not just the other person. Forgiveness brings freedom and replaces bitterness.

For me, I always saw God as a forgiving God, but it didn’t always motivate me to strive to be just as forgiving. Now, I understand that’s what we’re called to do.

It’s more than a one-time thing or even a seven times seventy thing. It’s a lifestyle—a culture that must be developed and established. I’m starting to work on being more forgiving from the little situations to the bigger conflicts and I’m seeing how powerful forgiveness really is.
